Better than expected September 4, 2010 T. Harris (Israel) I ordered this after carefully sifting through various models, makes and reviews.
I decided to order it immediately with the 2GB memory module upgrade. Found a "how to install" video, and installed the 2GB before starting the computer. No problems, all went well.
So far I'm surprised at the number of applications that I can have running at the same time. I haven't really tried to open a whole bunch of apps, but just from doing some basic work, before you know it Word, Excel, Firefox with 5-6 tabs etc are up and running and things seem fine. I was expecting too have to keep things to a bare minimum.
Keyboard is nice size-wise. You get used to the small size quickly. I understand the complaint that some have about the lack of a physical identifier on the keyboard (to help placement of fingers for touch typing), but I seem to be dealing with that OK. For the klutzy-fingers people, I don't get along well with the buttons on cell-phones, but am finding the netbook to be OK. Not as good as my notebook computer, but that's the trade-off for size and weight.
I'm finding the ctrl-mouse scroll function to enlarge and shrink web pages more useful than on a full sized computer.
Looking forward to using it in class to take notes on students and other classroom items.
The caselogic neoprene bag seems a little wimpy for shlepping this thing around in. Maybe I'll write another review after I actually shlep the netbook around a few days.
Also can't review the battery yet.
Good Little Computer September 4, 2010 Karie A. Norman (Houston, TX United States) I recently bought this for a great price. It is extremely lightweight, small and can fit into my purse.
Windows 7 starter (that comes with it), in my opinion, works great. You don't need all the extra stuff that comes with the regular Windows 7 OS.
Because it is small you can't have a bunch of different programs open all at the same time.
Didn't last a full year August 31, 2010 E. L. Robichaud (New Hampshire) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought the Aspire One Netbook to use for writing screenplays, and literally nothing else. No MP3s, no video files... nothing else. I used it MAYBE 45 times before the screen would freeze up. I would type on the keyboard and nothing would show up for a good two minutes or so. I brought it to a repair shop where I was informed that the harddrive was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced. The cost to repair it was more than I spent on the unit itself.
I love Netbooks, but this brand should be avoided at all cost. Go with a more reputable name.
Acer AO532h-2326 August 14, 2010 Richard M Carey I recommend the AcerAO532h-2326. Very pleased with the battery life, 8 to 9 hours for me. Battery time remaining is adjusted in the information tray icon as your activity changes. This helps if you want to conserve. I was concerned about going to a 10" screen from a 15" screen laptop, but I am very happy with my Acer 10" Netbook screen. I am 62 years old, so my vision is far from perfect. I haven't touched the 15" since my Netbook arrived. Don't be concerned with it having a slower processor. Comparing it's processor to faster ones is splitting hairs. This Netbook has no problem with Google Earth, Hoyle Casino,Photoshop and other demanding programs I use. The web cam produces a good image when using Skype, even in low light. I am told the sound of my voice on Skype is better with the Acer AO532h-2326 than with my Toshiba laptop or my desktop using a Logitech 4000 cam's microphone. The Netbook is very light. I use this computer 4 to 6 hours every day.
Great Netbook August 13, 2010 Aron R. Pedersen (NY, USA) This is a great little Netbook and you get good value for your money on this one. I bought it for my wife and see is loving it, I even find myself using it sometimes. I realy like the keyboard on this one compared to many other Netbooks and that was one of the main reason for me picking this one.
